On April 30, 2010, the Cameron County Young Lawyers Association completed Project Inspire. Project Inspire involved CCYLA volunteer lawyers visiting the fourth grade students of Russell and Ortiz Elementary to encourage them to achieve educational success as well as introduce them to our legal system and the law. CCYLA presented curriculum to the students provided by the Texas Young Lawyers Association’s Project Pipeline program.

The curriculum incorporated a variety of topics including a student lead interview with the lawyers, the introduction to legal terminology and a student mock trial event. The lawyers also introduced speakers to the students which included our local judges and legislators. All activities were aimed promote interactive communication between the lawyers and the students. At the completion of program, the students were given a small reception and individually presented with Certificates Achievement. CCYLA would like to thank all of the volunteer lawyers who attend the different sessions, the project chairs for the event, Amber Medina and Maurico Chavez and the Texas Young Lawyers Association for the project grant to fund the program.
