LPGA Professional Marlowe Boukis was quest speaker at the Women’s Law Section luncheon on April 21, 2010. Ms. Boukis addressed the Women’s Law Section attendees on the Duramed FUTURES Tour and her project Birdies 4 Books – www.birdies4books.org.
She was accompanied by Lisa D. Mickey, Senior Writer of New Media & Communications Manager with the Duramed FUTURES Tour.
While Ms. Boukis studied at Princeton, she did some research on the organization Room to Read. She found their mission inspiring, one which embraces one of her ideals, literacy. She believes literacy is the first step out of poverty and a stride towards a brighter and more peaceful future. Room to Read focuses on the developing world. It builds schools and school libraries, develops local language publishing to increase communities’ access to a wide array of literature, and promotes girls’ education.
Duramed FUTURES Tour was the second annual Historic Brownsville Open which took place at Rancho Viejo Resort and Country Club.
